Our Special Visitor - Tyler

Our Inquiry Wonderings for our special visitor tomorrow...

Room 5 wanted to make a difference...
We decided to raise some money to change someone else's life for the better. After a vote we decided to help children with heart conditions (there was a personal connection as Mrs Amos is "taking the plunge" on Sunday raising money for this cause. Along with our baking sale we are lucky enough to have a super special visitor tomorrow... Tyler a 2 year boy who is a heart baby! We are so excited - this makes it all so real and meaningful. Below are some of our wonderings we have....

Inquiry Action

Room 5’s Inquiry Action - Having empathy for others, we want to help those in need.

On Friday the 20th May 2011, during Morning Tea, Room 5 is having a baking sale. We are raising money for the Heart Stopper (which is an organisation that raises money to support heart kids throughout their life) which is being held this Sunday in the square. We are wanting to make a difference to those less fortunate than ourselves. Did you know 12 babies are born with heart conditions a week?

Bring your small change and support us by buying some YUMMY baking with all proceeds going to the Heart Stopper NZ.

SO COME ON ASHHURST SCHOOL... MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COUNTRY! BUY SOME BAKING AND SUPPORT THIS WORTHY CAUSE!

Visit http://www.heartstopper.org.nz/ashhurst_school if you would like to support the Ashhurst School teachers, who are taking the plunge this weekend.

Sailing the Titanic

On Saturday in the weekend my cousin came around to my house. She stayed until Sunday and as you know it was very wet and rainy on Sunday so we got the umbrellas and went outside. It was amazing because in the gutters of the road all of the water was moving a round and there were bits that looked like waterfalls it was so cool. So we ran to the shed and started to make boats. Mine looked like titanic kind of. Once we had finish making them we went and sailed them in the road gutters. Mine had lots of nails in it and three white flags I was hoping it wouldn't sink but listen to what happened next............. It sank and it was so funny because it sank just like what happened on titanic!! So I took off all the nail and it floated. Me and my cousin had a boat race and I kept smashing into the side of the road gutter but it was a tie. It was fantastic because sometimes when you moved all the leaves out of the way the concrete wasn't leveled and it would make a waterfall! Wow!! Soon it got cold and we went inside but that was the most coolest and entertaining thing to do in the rain! By Teana

Red Nose Day

You make the whole world smile,

with your little button nose.

Your itty bitty feet and your tiny

little toes.

Even in the still of night when your

a little so and so.

You make the whole world smile.

You make the whole world smile,

when you light up like the sun.

The laughter in your eyes bringing

joy to everyone.

So we will all sing this song,

and we'll beat upon the drum.

You make the whole world smile.

Let love flow through your soul,

Let it in, Let it in

Look into your heart,

come on play your part

Lets begin.
